The Widows & Orphans Fund is a vital part of the San Diego Police Officers Association. We are the ONLY charity in San Diego that directly supports the sworn officers of the SDPD in times of injury or death.

In the tragic event of an officer’s death, the Widows & Orphans Fund provides monetary support to the member’s beneficiary. The SDPOA Widows & Orphans Fund also provides assistance to our members in the case that they are seriously injured or faced with the loss of a spouse or child.

Many unexpected expenses can arise in the wake of a heartbreaking event, compounding the emotional stress grieving families already experience. The San Diego Police Officers Association’s Widows & Orphans Fund offers both immediate and long-lasting support to those affected by a tragedy.

Not if, but when we receive a call that an officer has been injured or killed in the line of duty, the Widows & Orphans Fund is immediately put into action.

While red tape can delay the payment of death benefits and basic insurance benefits for months --- even years, the Widows & Orphans Fund is there from the first minute an injury or death occurs. We continue to assist the officer until his or her family is on their feet again.

The San Diego Police Officers Association raises money each year through fundraisers, sponsorships and private donations to ensure that the Widows & Orphans Fund is available to support our members and their families in their greatest time of need.
